Navigation Department is responsible for the skillful and safe navigation of the ship. Constant vigilance for ships and natural obstacles, and reliable communications with other vessels and Colonie stations keep the quartermasters and signalmen busy around the clock. Although one of the smallest departments onboard, its responsibilities are enormous.

Throughout the strenuous work up cycles and Deployments this department provides safe navigation. Accuracy of navigation is paramount. This small group of Quartermasters and Signalmen utilize all known methods from star reading, flash signaling, to the most up-to-date instruments available to guide the ship anywhere in the Galaxy. Additionally, Navigation Department is responsible for setting the stage and ensuring traditional methods of military protocol are followed during all ceremonial events.
