Wing
Commander (CAG)
The CAG is directly responsible for the operational
readiness and tactical performance of the air wing.
He is responsible for the coordination and supervision
of all activities of the embarked squadrons and detachments,
and for the material readiness, communications, and
intelligence functions of the air wing. The CAG does
fall directly under the Battlestar’s commanding
officer.
AIR
WING
The
Battlestar Mjolnir BSR-37, known as “The Hammer”
of 7th Colonial Fleet, is looking for dedicated men
and women who want to serve in critical assignments
as pilots and technicians to defend the fleet and the
last vestiges of humanity from the Cylon aggression!
What is our Mission?
The Battlestar Air Wing stationed onboard, allows for
broad striking power hundreds of sectors away from the
Battlestar’s position, while providing defense
in depth through early warning and detection of spaceborne/airborne
targets and the rapid prosecution of these identified
threats.
Well organized, equipped and trained, the Air Wing provides
a majority of the striking power and electronic warfare
to the battle!
Who We Are?
The Air Wing is a Fleet-wide organization comprised
of squadrons and maintenance detachments. The makeup
of the Air Wing provides the Battlestar Commanding Officer
the tactical flexibility to handle any situation or
arising threats of Cylon incursions into Colonial space.
Here is the breakdown of Mjolnir’s 74th “The
Mighty” Einherjar Air Wing;
-
3 Strike Viper Squadrons (S/VFA) of Mark II/VII
Vipers.
-
One Electronic Attack Squadron (S/VAQ) of Raptors.
-
One Early Warning Squadron (S/VAW) of Raptors.
A Battlestar Air Wing is headed by a small staff led
by the “CAG”, a legacy term from earlier
fleet beginnings which stands for Commander Air Group.
The Air Staff is often supplemented with squadron intelligence
officers and maintenance officers. Each Air Wing was
designed to be a balanced mix of fighting power and
defense to provide the maximum benefit to the Battlestar.
